Public hearings start on Madison County wind power project seeking $30 million PILOT

A large wind power project is proposed in Madison County, and county officials want to hear from the public about it this week.

There are four public hearings. The first two are happening tonight from 5-6:30 p.m. in Nelson Town Hall and 6:45-8 p.m. in Fenner Town Hall. The remaining two are 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Eaton Town Hall and 6:45-8 p.m. Tuesday in Smithfield Town Hall.

Liberty Renewables wants to build up to 18 643-foot-high wind turbines spanning the four towns. They call it the Hoffman Falls Wind project. The company is asking for $30.4 million in tax relief over the next 20 years…
