Dozens of Rite Aid pharmacies closed in Oregon last year. What’s replacing them?

Across the country, ghosts of Rite Aids past fill strip malls and shopping plazas.

After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year, the Philadelphia-based pharmacy and retail chain spent the better part of 2025 wiping its entire national footprint via a mounting series of closures. By October, the company went from more than 1,200 locations to a clean zero.
