20 things you don’t know about me: Kevin Doherty, St. Catherine’s Center for Children

Kevin Doherty has spent more than 30 years working in public service and human services, a career that has taken him from New York State agencies to some of the Capital Region’s best-known nonprofits. Now, the Bethlehem resident leads St. Catherine’s Center for Children as its executive director.

Originally from the Bronx and Manhattan, Doherty came to the Capital Region and built a career that includes 20 years with the state, including leadership roles at the Division of the Budget and the Office of Addiction Services and Supports. He later moved into nonprofit leadership, including roles at St. Anne Institute and as executive director of Safe Inc. of Schenectady before returning to St. Catherine’s.

When he’s not working, Doherty enjoys two games that require lots of strategy: billiards and chess. So whether he’s thinking several moves ahead on a chessboard or lining up a difficult shot at the pool table, he’s mastered the art of patience…
