State investigators have subpoenaed emails involving a Metro Council member and two former employees who oversaw a city-parish health initiative, seeking communications with a contractor already charged with lying to get paid for a government-sponsored gun-safety event.
The subpoena is part of a wide-ranging probe into alleged corruption during former Mayor Sharon Weston-Broome’s administration. The investigation has already yielded charges against 10 people, including East Baton Rouge public schools Superintendent Lamonte Cole related to his time on the council, a former top mayoral aide, private contractors and Council member Cleve Dunn Jr.
The latest subpoena, served Aug. 12 by state Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office, seeks emails to or from Metro Council member Darryl Hurst, Jazzika Matthews and Cydni Raby, according to a copy viewed by The Advocate…
