SPRINGFIELD MAN JAILED FOLLOWING ELUDE INCIDENT ON MONDAY

A Springfield man was jailed following an elude incident on Monday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s report said just after 5:00 p.m. a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle on Interstate Five northbound near milepost 148 in the Oakland area. The bike failed to yield and exited the freeway in the Drain and Yoncalla area. It attempted to merge back onto the freeway, but the engine died and started leaking fluids.

The rider, identified as 46-year-old Scott Johnson, was placed into custody. He allegedly denied consent to search his bag after law enforcement requested. A search warrant was granted for the bag. A trooper reportedly seized 5.60 ounces of a crystallized substance, 27.49 grams of suspected fentanyl and credit cards that showed different names than Johnson’s…
