NEW YORK (PIX11) — Two law enforcement agencies plan to sue over Gov. Kathy Hochul’s new restrictions on agreements with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to a spokesperson for the Attorney General’s office.
In a statement posted to Facebook, Rensselaer County leaders said they will “be party to a federal lawsuit” to protect their 287(g) agreement with ICE. Broome County also plans to sue, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

Nassau County’s Police Department and Sheriff’s Office have not responded to the Attorney General’s Office. The Attorney General’s Office said it issued subpoeas to agencies that did not sufficiently comply with the law.
“The Office of the Attorney General’s Office of Immigrant Trust has issued subpoenas to law enforcement agencies who either did not confirm their plans to unwind their 287(g) agreements with ICE, or whose responses were unsatisfactory, including the Sheriffs’ Offices of Broome, Steuben, Nassau, and Rensselaer counties, as well as the Nassau County Police Department,” a spokesperson told PIX11 News…
