A pair of Southern California councilmen were each handed 18-month sentences in federal prison for bribery-related crimes, the U.S. Department of Justice announced on Monday.
The investigations revolve around longtime Baldwin Park City Councilman Ricardo Pacheco, who was also briefly the city’s mayor pro tempore, and former Compton City Councilman Isaac Jacob Galvan.
According to the DOJ, both Pacheco and Galvan engaged in corrupt acts while in office, including accepting tens of thousands of dollars in bribes for police union support and official permits to grow marijuana…
