Phase 2 of road construction on I-24 set to begin this week

Crews with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have been preparing for Phase 2 of construction work on I-24 in Christian County, and that work is set to get underway on Thursday.

According to a news release, this is part of the ongoing effort to rebuild almost seven miles of I-24 between the 89-mile-marker and the Kentucky-Tennessee state line. The first phase of this $25 million project was completed earlier this month, and crews have since been preparing the crossover necessary to shift traffic into the second phase of construction.

Westbound traffic will once again be reduced to one lane, and eastbound and westbound traffic will share the eastbound side while crews reconstruct the next section of roadway…
