The Fayetteville City Council voted on Monday, Aug. 24 to prepare the current site of Fire Station No. 4 for reconstruction. The move gives City leadership the green light to contract a project-management group to oversee the site preparation and rebuild efforts through occupancy of the relocated station.
Earlier this year, the Council voted to accept an independent engineering report by Applied Building Sciences (ABS) which recommended demolishing the superstructure and foundation to allow for reconstruction of the building. Site preparation activities are slated to begin this fall.
Cumming Group – an industry-leading, international project management and cost consulting firm with a focus on construction – will lead the project management. Phase I includes razing the building and site to return it to a clear, buildable state, then reconstructing Fire Station No. 4 utilizing the original building and site plans. The City of Fayetteville also plans to engage a contractor using a qualifications-based Construction Manager at Risk selection process. The Cumming Group will lead the City’s team through the evaluation and recommended selection of the general contractor.
