Youth with rare disorder dives into therapy

Kennedy Jachna is so excited at times to get to her physical therapy that she will bang on the door to gain entry.

The Wheaton 3-year-old has Activity-Dependent Neuroprotective Protein syndrome, a rare genetic diagnosis that affects brain development. There are only about 500 cases of the disorder worldwide.

“It is very rare,” said Caitlin Jachna, Kennedy’s mom. “It is one of the leading genetic causes for autism.”…
