Chicago driver ticketed for speeding in Brookfield

Brookfield police ticketed a 22-year-old Chicago man on Aug. 10 for speeding.

Around 9:35 p.m., an officer was patrolling in the Citi Bank parking lot at 9009 Ogden Ave. when they used the squad car radar to observe a silver Ford car traveling at 48 mph in the posted 30-mph zone. The officer activated their car’s emergency lights at the intersection with Prairie Avenue and initiated a traffic stop when the car pulled into the BP gas station off Ogden.

The officer made contact with the driver and asked the man for his driver’s license and proof of insurance, but the man indicated he did not speak English. Using a translator app, the officer spoke with the man and a passenger. After obtaining his driver’s license, the officer ran it and learned it had been suspended for “financial responsibilities,” according to police.
