Head custodian resigns after living in Hackett Middle School for six months

ALBANY — The custodian who was caught living in the school he cleaned has decided to resign, school officials say.

Tim Walters, 36, was suspended with pay when he was caught this spring. He had been an Albany City School District custodian for 17 years and had become head custodian.

But in October, he decided to move into Hackett Middle School, the school he cleaned during the day. He moved in beds, a fridge, and the rest of his belongings. He had been living with his sister; he said he let her assume he was moving into a legitimate apartment…
