15-year-old Boy Shot Sitting on Pilsen Sidewalk as Car Opens Fire on Cermak Road

Police say a 15-year-old boy was shot Sunday afternoon while sitting near a sidewalk in the 1900 block of West Cermak Road on Chicago’s Lower West Side. Around 3:30 p.m., someone in a nearby car opened fire, striking the teenager before fleeing the area.

The boy was rushed to Stroger Hospital and was listed in good condition, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Detectives are investigating the shooting, but no suspect description or motive have been issued. According to MentalHealthFacilities.net, Stroger Hospital, formerly known as John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, runs a significant public Level 1 Trauma Center roughly 1.5 miles north of the shooting location and treats gunshot victims from Chicago’s West Side on a regular basis…
