August heat pushes Southern California 20 degrees above average

Southern California is entering the hottest stretch of its prolonged August warmup Wednesday, with temperatures climbing as much as 20 degrees above average and some communities potentially reaching 112 degrees.

KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said Wednesday and Thursday will be the two hottest days of the stretch, although which day ends up being the hottest will vary by location.
