16-year-old killed in I-27 crash in Hale County

LUBBOCK, Texas — A 16-year-old is dead after a Wednesday afternoon crash in Hale County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

An investigation revealed that a Dodge Ram pickup, towinga trailer, driven by a 20-year-old from Lubbock, Texas, was traveling northbound on I-27 in the left lane. A Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by a 16-year-old, was also traveling northbound on I-27 in the left lane, approaching the Dodge and the trailer from the rear.

The Chevrolet collided with the rear of the towed trailer. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Covenant Health Hospital-Plainview where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup was not injured…
