Today & Tonight :Mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions and not so hot weather is forecast on this Wednesday across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. A few lingering showers will remain possible this morning across portions of the area. There is a slight chance for thunderstorms late this afternoon across the far western areas. High temperatures will range from the middle 90s to the lower 100s. The wind will be out of the east-northeast 5 to 15 mph. The chance for rain is 20 percent.Sunrise is at 7:17 AM CDT.Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast this evening and tonight across the South Plains and portions of the Rolling Plains. Some thunderstorms may be strong to marginally severe. Partly to mostly cloudy conditions and mild to warm weather is otherwise forecast. Low temperatures will vary and range from the lower60s to the middle 70s. The wind will be out of the east-northeast in the evening and then shift to the north-northwest overnight 5 to 10 mph. The chance for rain is 40 percent.

Mid-Morning Update: There is a “marginal” (1/5) risk for severe weather Wednesday evening and night across most of the South Plains. The threats include wind gusts up to 75 mph and hail up to 1.00″ (quarter size).

Thursday :Partly to mostly cloudy conditions and “cooler” weather is forecast on Thursday across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast in the afternoon and evening across portions of the South Plains and the Rolling Plains.
