The Buellton City Council on Monday put off a decision about who will patrol the city’s streets, directing staff to seek a one-year extension of its longstanding contract with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office while continuing to weigh a competing proposal from the Lompoc Police Department.
The council did not vote to change law enforcement providers. Members said they wanted more time, more public input and a closer look at the costs and services offered by each agency before making a decision.
