Amarillo VA resident alleges threats, ignored complaints at Community Living Center

AMARILLO, Texas. (KVII)—Allegations of threats and disruptive behavior inside the Amarillo VA’s Community Living Center have left at least one veteran and his family questioning whether residents and staff are being kept safe — and whether complaints are being addressed.

Veteran William J. Wade, who lives at the facility, said the situation has felt like “what I consider a betrayal.”

Wade and his wife, Katherine Wade, said another resident’s behavior has raised concerns about safety for both veterans and staff. Katherine Wade said the resident “was very disruptive, very rude, was entering other people’s rooms without permission, was harassing some of the female staff members, was harassing staff members, cursing out staff members and threatening staff members, as well as some of the residents.”…
