‘It was a little overwhelming’: National Guard assists with storm cleanup in KCK neighborhood

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – Dozens of Kansas National Guard members arrived in a Kansas City, Kansas, neighborhood near 53rd Street and Leavenworth Road to help with storm damage cleanup, nearly a week after the storm hit.

Residents still struggling with damage

Terrice Hartfield said he had never been through a storm like this.

“But the scary part was, my son called me and said, ‘Dad, you wouldn’t believe this!’ I said, ‘Believe what?’ He said, ‘There’s a tree sitting on the house,’” Hartfield said.

For days, Hartfield worked to clean up the damage himself…
