BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Defense attorney Gary Turnbull spent months representing the stepmother charged in the torture slaying of 8-year-old Genesis Mata, whose body was found with gruesome injuries in a motel bathtub last year.
But Turnbull experienced a medical emergency this summer. He has since disconnected his phone and is no longer practicing law, according to statements made during a court hearing Thursday.
