HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Evansville man was arrested after he reportedly led authorities on a pursuit during the early morning hours on Thursday.
According to arresting documents, a Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle at approximately 1:30 a.m. after seeing a vehicle traveling on First Avenue without headlights on and not using a signal to turn. However, the driver of the vehicle did not stop for authorities and continued to flee at speeds reaching up to 90 miles per hour.
Authorities say during the pursuit, the vehicle disregarded a stop sign and a stop light. At one point, the driver also reportedly threw a black box out of a window in the parking lot of Ivy Tech, and the vehicle also reportedly slowed down to let a passenger out on Richardt Avenue.
The deputy reported that the driver attempted to flee on foot near Diamond Avenue before being taken into custody. The driver was identified as Tyler Straub, 30, and according to a deputy at the scene he confessed that he was the one who had been driving and that his fingerprints would be found on the black box thrown from the vehicle, but denied that his fingerprints would be found on the inside of the box…
