We tried Savor the Rise’s new dinner

Savor the Rise, one of my favorite bakeries in the Des Moines area, recently added dinner service featuring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

What it is: A cute Indianola bakery by day, and at night, the tables are cleared off and the space is transformed with checkered napkins and candlelight.

  • I got the tagliatelle ($19) with homemade pasta, gorgonzola sauce, caramelized onions, spinach, breadcrumbs, basil and olive oil.

Linh’s thought bubble: She ate. (Literally, and figuratively.)

  • The dish was reminiscent of a good, home-cooked meal. It wasn’t overworked or overindulgent, but it was still plated and served like a higher-end dish.
  • The creamy gorgonzola sauce was similar to a good alfredo, while the breadcrumbs gave it a slight crisp on top.

Of note: Since the menu is seasonal, this dish isn’t available anymore, but the new late summer menu also looks fire…
