Fire destroys Mercy House aftercare home

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – One of Mercy House’s aftercare homes was damaged by a fire during the early morning hours of August 27, 2026, after being struck by lightning.

Mercy House officials said lightning struck the house at 3:00 a.m. Six people inside the home were the first to notice the fire in the attic.
