ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Peter Cullen, the renowned voice actor behind the voice of Optimus Prime, has died at the age of 85.
In a statement to TMZ, which first broke the news, his agent said Cullen “passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family – and held in the hearts of his many friends and countless fans worldwide.”
Born in Montreal, Canada, on July 28, 1941, he graduated from Montreal’s National Theatre School of Canada as part of the first graduating class, got his start as an announcer for a Montreal radio station, and played Commander Bi Bi Latuque on “The Buddies” children’s program on Montreal TV station CFCF. He also appeared on “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour” and the “Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour.”…
