Daily afternoon storms expected before more heat builds into September

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida will see another round of afternoon storms Friday, with heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds possible. Storm chances shift more inland this weekend, while increasing heat and humidity could make for a hotter start to September.

A fairly typical late-August pattern remains in place Friday, with light winds allowing the Atlantic sea breeze to push inland.

That will spark a 50-60% chance scattered showers and storms during the early to mid-afternoon, first near the coast before shifting toward the interior later in the day.

Some storms could linger past sunset, especially around the Orlando metro area. A few storms could also move back toward the Volusia coast this evening…
