Friday and weekend: Clothesline Fest, Fairport Music Fest, Movies in the Park, and more

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Here’s your guide to what’s happening around the Rochester area on Friday this weekend. You can see more upcoming events in our community calendar.

Movies in the Park (Friday)

The annual Movies in the Park series closes out on Friday with a screening of the animated Disney-Pixar movie “Cars” at Seneca Park Zoo. Throughout the summer, the county has held free screenings of family-friendly movies at popular spots.

The screening begins at dusk, around half an hour after sunset, on a giant outdoor projector. Other locations this summer have included Ontario Beach Park, Highland Park, and ESL Ballpark.

Fairport Music Festival (Friday and Saturday)

The Fairport Music Festival, a fundraiser that’s raised more than $3.2 million for Golisano Children’s Hospital over its two decades, kicks off on Friday. Bands from across the region will perform at multiple stages around Main Street and at businesses in the village. You can see the full music lineup here.

The festival runs through Saturday and features food trucks and children’s activities. Friday’s first performance at the festival gets underway at 5 p.m. at the North Stage. There will also be live music at the Fairport Brewing Company, Iron Smoke Distillery, Tin Cup Social, B-Side, TJ Ryan’s Pub, Mulconry’s Irish Pub, and Faircraft Brauhaus.
