OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A Douglas County grand jury found no criminal wrongdoing by law enforcement in the deaths of eight people who died while in custody this past year.
A recommendation came out of one case that was the focus of a First Alert 6 investigation earlier this year.
Gifford’s death
Edward Gifford, 33, was suffering a mental health issue when he was taken to the Douglas County Jail on a warrant out of Lincoln.
When Lancaster County deputies arrived to pick him up, Gifford experienced a medical emergency. He died in an Omaha hospital several days later…
