A sermon preached earlier this month at First United Methodist Church of Birmingham drew attention from a national evangelical watchdog group for comparing the Bible to Aesop’s Fables.
“I like to think of them as the stories that I grew up on, Aesop’s fables,” said the Rev. Katie Gilbert, executive pastor of First United Methodist Church.
