Fresno Fire Department Warns Homeowners After Lithium Ion Battery Nearly Burns Down a Family Home
Eight people are now without a home. Not because of a gas leak, a candle, or faulty wiring. Because an electric scooter was plugged in to charge, and its lithium-ion battery exploded.
This happened in central Fresno, on North Palm Avenue, on a Thursday afternoon. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy black smoke and flames already tearing through the backside of the home.
Thirty-two firefighters responded. The living room was destroyed. The family made it out. The house did not.
