A new Colorado law restricting sports betting companies is giving University of Colorado Boulder counselors another resource to address gambling issues that they have been working on with students for years.
Democratic Gov. Jared Polis signed the law this summer, limiting how many times a person can deposit money for bets each day, bans push notifications encouraging people to bet, and stops sportsbooks from accepting credit card deposits.
According to the new law, internet sports betting operators licensed by the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission are prohibited from accepting more than six separate deposits from an individual in a single gaming day, or from sending mobile device push notifications or text messages soliciting bets or deposits.
