An idea spawned from shrimp, full of whimsy and a chance to build meaningful friendships, gave way to Lafayette’s newest dance krewe — the Lafayette Shrimpettes.
The Shrimpettes dance their way through Mardi Gras celebrations, but dancing is only one part of what they do.
The group, which danced its first parade in June for the Pride parade, now has 73 members, including “Tail Shakers,” who dance, and the “Krill Crew,” who help build and support the krewe with costumes, logistics, transportation, hydration, and any other details required to get the krewe on the street…
