GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Less showers through the weekend. The focus turns towards the dangerous heat arriving midweek.
Sunday & Monday: Weather Quiets Down
Sunday brings a much drier day as high pressure pushes a cold front out of the area. Dense fog blankets the mountains early Sunday morning, so take it slow if you’re heading up there. Once the fog clears by mid-morning, expect mostly sunny skies across the entire region. The Upstate reaches the upper 80s while mountain areas stay in the low 80s. It’s a beautiful day to get outside. A couple showers are possible Sunday afternoon in the mountains.
By Monday, sunny skies dominate as a strong high pressure system parks over the Southeast. Temperatures begin to soar to well above normal for the last day of August. We top out in the low 90s for the Upstate and the upper 80s in the mountains putting us 5° above normal. It’s also humid which means the feels like temperatures jump to the upper 90s to around 100.
Tuesday Through Thursday: Hot & Humid
We had a nice break from the 90s for a week and half but they return with a vengeance for the first part of September.
It’s mostly sunny and mainly dry each day allowing for the sunshine to help warm us up quickly. Highs are in the mid 90s for the Upstate and the upper 80s to around 90 in the mountains.
The Bermuda High locks in, sending heat index values into the 100-105 degree range across the Upstate each afternoon. Overnight lows drop into the mid 70s for the Upstate and the upper 60s in the mountains so not much relief at night…
