A Modesto hospital has begun a procedure for patients with severe emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a lung problem prevalent in the Central Valley.
Dr. Maykel Irandost performed the first endobronchial valve placement in August at Doctors Medical Center, placing three Zephyr valves in a patient who had debilitating emphysema.
