Finger Lakes transportation needs highlighted in NY plan

The New York State Department of Transportation is establishing long-term improvements to transportation and pedestrian infrastructure with the New York State Transportation Master Plan 2050.

The master plan is a performance-based plan that identifies six goals developed by transportation partners, stakeholders, and residents across NYS to achieve the community-centered vision:

  • Safe transportation for all
  • Community responsive and resilient transportation system
  • Reliable and efficient transportation network
  • Accessible and affordable transportation choices
  • Environmental stewardship and protection
  • Strengthen economic competitiveness

Transportation needs identified in the Finger Lakes Region

Ten distinct regions have been identified with unique transportation needs influenced by local drivers, environmental conditions, and other community characteristics. Regional profiles look at key transportation infrastructures and various data such as how residents commute to work.
