PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man previously convicted of murder in Cowlitz County, who also ran for office, is now accused in a triple homicide in Los Angeles.
Patrick Kevin Spurlock, 57, has been charged with three counts of murder after three men were found shot and killed in a Hollywood apartment on July 24. The charges were announced by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office on Aug. 20.

Spurlock shot and killed 43-year-old DeWayne Williams in Longview during an argument in 2003, as previously reported by the Spokesman-Review. He was convicted of second-degree murder in Cowlitz County in 2005 and sentenced to 17 years in prison.
After a Cowlitz County judge reportedly encouraged him to get involved in civic life, Spurlock ran for election to Washington’s House of Representatives in 2022. At the time, he reportedly said he saw himself as the people’s candidate, and said he was running to combat corruption in government, according to the Spokesman-Review.
