Man stabbed during early-morning fight in downtown Syracuse; man charged

Syracuse, N.Y. — A man was stabbed in the chest and back during a fight in downtown Syracuse Saturday morning, police said.

Around 7:26 a.m., a Syracuse police officer was driving a patrol vehicle in the 500 block of South Clinton Street when he saw a group of people fighting, Sgt. Thomas Blake said in a news release.

The officer got out of the vehicle and intervened, bringing the fight under control, Blake said. Officers then learned that a 32-year-old man had been stabbed in the chest and back, Blake said…
