SAN JOSE, Calif. — Bay Area music fans can certainly be excused for wondering if they’ll actually get to witness the troubled Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire co-headlining tour or not.
The problems began back in early August, on the evening of the trek’s originally scheduled date at Chase Center in San Francisco, when EWF drummer John Paris experienced a medical emergency — reportedly related to a cardiac concern — and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Concert organizers responded quickly and pulled the plug on the gig literally minutes before showtime.
The Chase concert was then rescheduled for late September, with another drummer set to fill in for EWF while Paris continues to deal with severe health issues…
