Kelly Osbourne has opened up about the strained relationship with her older sister, Aimee Osbourne, revealing that they are no longer speaking and that reconciliation seems impossible. The 41-year-old daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne expressed deep-seated resentment over never having the supportive big sister she longed for. She accused Aimee, 43, of barely acknowledging her or their brother Jack during their childhood and even seeming “embarrassed” by their famous family.
During a conversation on the We Need To Talk podcast with Paul C. Brunson, Kelly was asked if there was any hope of mending the rift with Aimee.
Her response was definitive: “No.” She went on to say, “I respect her, I accept her, but we’re different, and that’s okay.
If you’re not going to accept me for who I am, and constantly be trying to change me and say horrible things about me, and truly seem to thrive when I’m not doing well, I don’t want you in my life.”
Describing their dynamic, Kelly called the sisters “polar opposites,” lamenting that one of her hardest struggles has been feeling like she never really had a big sister. She recalled that it was mostly just her and Jack, while Aimee kept to herself in her own world.
Jack Osbourne has also spoken about his distant relationship with Aimee. Before their father Ozzy’s passing, Jack told the Disrespectfully podcast that he and Aimee were not close.
He speculated whether Aimee regretted not joining their family’s MTV reality show, The Osbournes, which aired from 2002 to 2005. Jack noted, “We don’t have a great relationship; she’ll be the first to tell you that, so it’s no secret.”
Aimee’s decision to avoid the family’s reality TV spotlight was rooted in her desire to be taken seriously as a musician. Jack described her choice as avoiding the “low-hanging fruit” of reality TV fame. In her own words, Aimee told The Independent that during those years she was still trying to understand herself amid the chaos of family life and wanted to protect her parents and younger siblings, who were quite young at the time.
Despite the family fractures, Kelly emphasized her loyalty to the rest of the Osbourne family, saying she has “never been ashamed” of them. She acknowledged that while they may not be conventional, they are always honest with one another. As the Osbourne family continues to cope with the loss of their patriarch, these candid reflections reveal the complex dynamics behind the scenes of one of rock’s most famous families.
