Toby Newton intended to retire in the house he purchased four years ago in southeast Mesa’s Superstition Springs community.
The 53-year-old man, however, is losing his home after he fell behind in his HOA dues of $877, which with principal came to $977.
“I bought the house and then I got sick,” explained Newton, who closed on the house in August 2022. “I got diabetes and I was out of work.”
