TOLEDO, Ohio — From state seats to local levies, voters will have a lot to decide on in a very short period of time. Midterm elections are less than a month away, with early voting beginning Tuesday, Oct. 6.
One major decision Toledoans will make is on ‘Issue 16,’ a citywide income tax increase meant to fund public safety. It asks residents of Toledo if they want to add .25% to Toledo’s current 2.5% income tax rate. The city currently lists its income tax rate at 2.5%.
For a person living or working in Toledo making $100,000, it works out to an additional $250 of income tax. If passed, the city says it’ll send $25 million of additional funding toward public safety departments and initiatives…
