Murder investigation underway at state prison in northern Cincinnati suburbs

TURTLECREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) – Authorities are investigating the “aggravated murder” of a 29-year-old inmate following a fight with his cellmate at Lebanon Correctional Institution, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

Maurice Vinson, of Akron, was taken from the prison to Atrium Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead early Saturday, the Warren County Coroner’s Office said.

An autopsy determined his preliminary cause of death was “blunt force injuries” to his head, the coroner, Dr. Russell Uptegrove, told FOX19 NOW.

The Highway Patrol’s report said a “physical altercation” occurred between two cellmates. One inmate suffered serious injuries requiring emergency care and later died at the hospital…
