A fast-moving system will track into the region out of the Rockies tonight. Clouds are already starting to fill in over Western Kansas. Rain showers will arrive in the southwest after 10 PM and ramp up overnight.
Temperatures will be chilly, but we will keep this moisture as rain. That said, Southeast Colorado will drop enough to have snow mix in just across the state line. We may have enough energy for a few claps of thunder tonight before rain showers slide eastward into Thursday.
The Wichita area will battle drier air coming in from the north that helps steer this moisture farther south. Those who do see rain may only pick up a tenth to a quarter inch. Some lucky enough to the southwest may get closer to a half inch of rain.
Overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s to near 50 degrees.
Highs on Thursday will be cooler and widespread in the 50s.
Clouds will clear the state Thursday night. Temperatures will dive into the 30s, around freezing in the northwest, with areas farther southeast in the lower 40s. Due to another reinforcing shot of cooler air, highs will be in the 50s for Friday. Get ready for some true fall football weather under the Friday night lights!
More clouds will be added to the mix on Saturday before clearing the remainder of the weekend. High pressure will build into the area, keeping us dry.
High temperatures will gradually climb through the 60s into next week with lows in the 30s and 40s.
