One of Portage County’s most popular parks is closed while upgrades take place. .
Towner’s Woods Park in Franklin and Ravenna townships closed May 26, and is expected to remain closed for about two months, said Christine Craycroft, executive director of the Portage Park District. The work also affects a portion of the Portage Hike and Bike Trail, which runs through the park.
Craycroft said both the park, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and the trail have seen increased visitation “and are ready for repairs.” Funding for the improvements is coming from the park levy and donations…
