GREEN, Ohio (WOIO) – A group of FirstEnergy employees and wildlife professionals worked to rescue a bald eagle eaglet on June 24.
FirstEnergy said that Ohio Department of Natural Resources wildlife officer Zach Hillman first noticed a nest of three bald eagle eaglets on the transmission structure in Nimisila Reservoir in Green.
The electric service company said that eagles and ospreys are drawn to high points near water for nesting sites, but they often use materials that can conduct electricity and pose a risk when wet.
Hillman alerted FirstEnergy, and FirstEnergy crews worked with environmental specialists, dispatchers and wildlife experts to coordinate a rescue.
