Portage County’s Auto Title Department has deposited $3 million in the county’s general fund.
Portage County Clerk of Courts Jill Fankhauser said the funds come from car buyers who obtain titles for vehicles they have purchased.
Fankhauser said previously, car buyers were forced to obtain their auto titles in the county where they live. As her office serves as a deputy registrar for the Ohio Department of Public Safety, individuals, businesses and car dealerships can choose any clerk’s office across the state…
