Man Charged With Forgery After Allegedly Cashing Altered Check Stolen From Franklin Business

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — An Ohio man faces multiple felony charges after investigators say they identified him through bank surveillance video cashing an altered business check stolen from a Franklin production company.

Court records show Franklin Police filed the following charges against Eric Anthony Rogers, 61, of Akron, Ohio, on June 29:

  • Forgery, Felony 2
  • Theft by Deception, Felony 3
  • Theft by Unlawful Taking, Felony 3

According to the affidavit of probable cause, an employee of Frenchcreek Productions in Franklin reported the fraud on March 31. The employee told police she mailed a business check on March 18 to a company located in Twinsburg, Ohio, for $7,272.22, the criminal complaint states.

A Franklin police detective obtained a search warrant for bank records and determined the check was cashed on March 27 at a PNC Bank branch in North Olmsted, Ohio, the affidavit states. The bank records showed a cash transaction of $2,215.42 and a $56.80 fee, according to police records…
