AKRON, Ohio — Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen Scalise is asking residents to be on the lookout for online videos or social media posts claiming a new property tax relief program is available for senior homeowners.
The recent videos and posts direct homeowners to contact their county fiscal officer to request a “Senior Homeowner Tax Review Request” form. However, no such property tax relief program or form exists, according to a Summit County Fiscal Office news release.
“Residents should always verify information about property tax relief through trusted government sources,” Scalise said in the release. “If you have questions about available tax relief or exemption programs, my office is here to help.”…
