AKRON, Ohio – The fourth annual Akron City Festival will take place over two days this year.
The family friendly event that serves as the kickoff for the upcoming school year is scheduled for Sept. 5-6. The first day of the festival will feature live entertainment and the second day will feature a parade and festival with activities for the family, according to a city news release.
Saturday’s festival will take place at the Akron-Summit County Public Library Main Branch, located at 60 S. High St. The schedule is:
- Noon: Ballet showcase with the Heinz Poll Summer Dance Festival
- 1 p.m.: Music showcase with the Youth Nation Center
- 2 p.m.: Dance showcase with Born to Dance 330
- 3 p.m.: Fashion showcase with NightLyfe Entertainment
Sunday’s festivities will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lock 3 in downtown Akron. A parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the Spaghetti Warehouse parking lot, located at 510 S. Main St. The parade will travel down Main Street toward Lock 3. The parade will feature community organizations as well as Akron Public Schools athletic teams, artists and JROTC members.
