An Akron man walked into a store with a small midday lottery win and walked out staring at a six-figure fortune, thanks to a $30 scratch-off that hit for a $300,000 prize. He told lottery officials he plans to pay off his parents’ car, buy himself a new vehicle and stash the rest in savings. After state and federal withholdings the payout comes to about $219,750.
According to WLWT, the Akron resident, who has not been publicly named, first placed a 50-cent straight wager on the midday Pick 3 and won $250. He then rolled that win into several Wild Cash Tripler scratch-off tickets. When one of those showed a $300,000 prize, he did not trust his eyes and had the ticket scanned to confirm it.
