Justice group votes to keep Cuyahoga County jail moving

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cuyahoga County jail project is moving forward.

The four-member justice committee approved to advance planning at a special meeting Monday, with Clerk of Courts Nailah Byrd, Probate Judge Anthony Russo and Court of Common Pleas designee Christopher Russ voting to move forward. The fourth member, Sheriff Harold Pretel abstained, citing potential legal ramifications tied to the state auditor’s ongoing investigation of the project.
